The snow is falling down
(tune: farmer in the dell)
The snow is falling down, the snow is falling down.
Great big white flakes that do not make a sound.
---
(To the tune of Ring Around the Rosie)
Winter Winter Wonderland
Pockets Full of Mittens
Snowflakes, Snowflakes
We All Fall Down!
---
Winter Hokey Pokey
You put your right mitten in,
You take your right mitten out.
You put your right mitten in,
And you shake it all about.
You do the winter pokey, [shiver] (x3)
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!
Others Include:
You put your left mitten in....
You put your right boot....
You put your left boot....
You put your winter hat in....
You put your snowsuit (whole body) in....

It Is Winter
(sung to "If You're Happy And You Know It")
It is winter and it's time to ride a sled!
It is winter and it's time to ride a sled!
It is winter that's the season!
We don't need a better reason!
It is winter and it's time to ride a sled!

This winter song to help develop language skills.
Put a pile of winter clothing into the center of the circle. (boots, hat, mittens, snow pants, scarf, etc.
Song: (sung to tune of "Are You Sleeping"
"It is snowing, it is snowing,
On my head, on my head
I need a hat, I need a hat,
On my head, on my head"
As you sing name the body part, let the children pick out the correct article of clothing to finish the verse. For example, if you say feet...they would pick boots.
Do this at circle time with child sized clothing and as you sing, the teachers "put on" the clothing too. The children find this very funny.

Snowflake Song (Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)
I'm a little snowflake, fat and round
Falling softly to the ground.
When enough of me falls hear me shout,
"Here's a snowball, better watch out!" (pretend to throw a snowball)
---
(Act out each line, indicating the various body part the article belongs on)
The day is cloudy and the wind is bold. Dress up warmly, you mustn't get cold!
Put on your coat and zip it up tight, put on your left boot, put on your right.
Put on your scarf and put on your hat, put on your mittens and clap-clap-clap!
Go outside and play and play. Come in again, and then we'll say-
Take off your coat that was zipped up tight, take off your left boot, take off your right.
Take off your scarf, take off your hat, take off your mittens, and then take a nap!
---
(To the tune of Are you Sleeping)
Dance like snowflakes
Dance like snowflakes
In the air
In the air
Whirling, Twirling snowflakes
Whirling, Twirling snowflakes
Here and there
Here and there

Hand motions Point to sky hold up 2 fingers or two have children hold up two arms up point to eye children turn around and around they really will have fun with this finger play. Progressive numbers using fingers.
Way up high In the winter sky , 2 little snowflakes caught my eye.
Down to the ground they fell without a sound.
And before very long , It was snowing all around.

This snowman song is sung to the song "5 little pumpkins", I just changed some of the words.
5 little snowmen sitting on the ground, (pat hands on floor)
the first one said; "oh my aren't we round." (make circle with arms)
The second one said; "there are snowflakes in the air." (wiggle fingers above head)
The third one said; "but we don't care." (shrug shoulders)
The fourth one said; "lets run and run and run. (pat hands quickly on the floor)
The fifth one said; "I'm ready for some fun." (smile)
Whew went the wind (blow) and out came the sun (make circle with arms over head)
and the five little snowman knew their fun was done.( pretend your melting)
